One Critically Injured, Two Others Hospitalized After Crash At Long Island Intersection

Three were hospitalized - one with critical injuries - after a 60-year-old driver was struck on Long Island and was struck by another vehicle attempting to cross through a busy Long Island intersection, police said.

In Suffolk County, Seventh Squad detectives responded to a crash in Eastport that left an East Moriches man hospitalized in critical condition shortly before 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 8.

Police said that Anthony Ricci, age 60, of East Moriches, was driving a 2019 Honda Accord north on East Moriches-Riverhead Road in Eastport when he attempted to turn left onto the westbound lanes of County Road 111 and crossed in front of a 2013 Honda Accord traveling southbound, striking the vehicle at 5:56 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.

Ricci was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition. His passenger, Frances Ricci, age 60, also of East Moriches, was also taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the 2013 Honda, Sean Schilling, age 46, of Islip Terrace, was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Both vehicles were taken impounded for safety checks.
